In light of the controversial decision of whether Shemima Begum should be allowed back into the UK, reporter Darshna Soni travels to France to see how they have been tackling radicalisation amongst young people.
]With exclusive access she meets with Farid Benyettou former al-Quaeda recruiter known for radicalising the Kouachi brothers who committed the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris. In Lyon, she with meets with a young woman who also was recruited by ISIS and has recently come out of prison following an attempt to commit a bombing similar to the Bataclan attack. Darshna’s journey continues to a remote part of central France where she meets with the former head of France’s first state deradicalization program that was controversially shut down by the State.
Darshna also speaks to experts and asks the question how to punish, deradicalize and stop online grooming from happening in the future.
