100 Women: The Femicide Crisis in El Salvador- BBC World News, 1 x 30’ 2018
Self-Shooting Producer/Director
In this 30minute documentary we explore why El Salvador consistently ranks number one in the world for women murdered by their intimate partner. To tell this story we follow one woman who is trying to tackle femicide – the countries first special prosecutor against femicides Graciela Sagastume Lopez. She is examining the case of a young female journalist who was murdered by her partner.
We travel to San Salvador and meet the family members of victims of femicide, international lawyers fighting for justice and we enter the notorious San Salvador prison where the accused is being held. The film also looks at the countries violent past and male issues of identity and machismo.
